On my second visit to St. Louis, I decided to stop by Nathaniel Reid Bakery--and wow, what a gem! It was my first time at this bakery and my first time trying a kouign-amann, and let me just say, I'm hooked. The kouign-amann was absolute perfection. Buttery, flaky, and caramelized just right on the outside with a soft, tender center. Every bite was a heavenly mix of textures and flavors. I'm convinced this pastry alone is reason enough to keep coming back to St. Louis. The bakery itself has such a warm and inviting vibe, and the staff were super friendly, even with how busy it was. You can tell everything here is made with care and expertise. If you're in St. Louis, don't miss Nathaniel Reid Bakery. Whether it's your first time or your fiftieth, this place is an absolute treat!
Just went to Nathaniel Reid again. The bakery items are glistening and beautiful. And holy cow after eating them you can see why they're so expensive. Very very very good. Got the ham and gruyere again 5/5. The mango citrus mini bundt cake one was 5/5 (my favorite). The cheese and honey foccocia was maybe the weakest 3/5. The raspberry pistachio 5/5. Also incredibly delicious -- the packaging is great and they arrived in perfect condition even after I ran errands for 2 hours before being able to bring them back home.
If you're looking for "good deals" on baked goods, stay home. :) Besides that, it's impossible to rave too much about this bakery: the artistry, the European baking skills like lamination, the friendliness of staff even when under pressure. 10/10 on everything! The Caia cake is SO special, I think it's perfect for any occasion. It is a delectable symphony of flavor and texture--delicate flavors of raspberry and white chocolate I believe, with an amazing shiny, sticky icing on top that is an ideal thickness. It's small for $45 but dense, so serving regular sized pieces isn't necessary. It's my favorite cake there. And there is a reason that the Kouign-amanns ("queen a-MONs") get cleaned out every day. They are a dreamy cross between the best croissant you've ever had and an almondy bear claw. A giant boo on their website which is terrible in almost every way, but that won't stop me from giving five stars for this bakery treasure.
Nathaniel Reid is always such a solid choice for any of your bakery needs. I truly don't think I've had one thing from here that I haven't raved about. Their items are not only crafted with intent and professionalism, but they're absolutely beautiful and are so eye catching. I really enjoy their sandwiches for a special lunch, and obviously their sweet treats are to die for. Their almond croissants are what dreams are made of. I highly recommend any and all items! They also have an espresso machine. The ultimate afternoon pick me up spot!
Line almost out the door, but it moved pretty quickly. Go for at least the desserts. They were so rich and decadent, can't go wrong with either one. Pastries were just alright. Would probably be better if warmed. I think this place is a bit overhyped, but was still good nonetheless.
Nathaniel Reid Bakery is a hidden surprise I did not expect to find here! I am not always on the hunt for dessert but when I do, I want something that leaves an impression. And boy, did they ever! Not only was the vibe of this little bakery welcoming, but the workers at the counter were inviting and helpful and informative. I had ordered the Margo and Guyana. The Guyana is for anyone who loves chocolate! Rich and decadent chocolate moouse, chocolate creme brulee and a hazelnut croquant. Rich and dreamy and hitting all of those perfect little chocolate notes and the textures made it like uncovering buried treasure. The Margo, however, held my heart. I'm a macaron lover and this oversized french macaron was perfectly made over a filling of velvety soft strawberry Chantilly creme, with a raspberry-lemon confit. I made sure to take my time savoring this treat and this is something you will dream about over and over! If you haven't stopped by Nathaniel Reid, you are truly missing out!
Went several weeks ago to grab lunch to go on a busy day. The wait was short as I went after typical lunch hours. Staff always very helpful. My friend wanted their amazing chocolate chip cookies for desert and we got chicken salad on croissant they are well know for. The quality of everything is top notch and the chefs are supremely talented. This would particularly be a place to go for deserts and gets super busy during the holidays so place an order in advance if you plan to take a tart or other delicious morsel to a holiday gathering!
This shop was about 20 minutes from downtown, and worth the drive. I at a roast beef sandwich and a pastry that was simply divine. The sandwich was tasty with onions and sauce, with cheese. It was small but tasty. The pastry was on another level and would without a doubt buy again. Sugary, flaky, yummy! There were several employees there to assist by the counter.
The quality of pastries and desserts I get are consistent every time! There's someone to serve you as soon as you ready to order!
After leaving the Laumiere Sculpture Park, I wanted to get desserts in the area, and I stumbled upon this place with so many great reviews! I just had to see this place for myself. This store was in a small shopping area with decent parking spots in front of the shop. All the items displayed in the shops looked delectable and freshly made. I ordered these desserts and pastries: the Jarmo and the strawberry panna cotta. They were so, so good! I'll come back to this bakery for more goods next time! The staff were super friendly, and the service was fast. There are plenty of sitting areas if you enjoy your desserts in the shop.
